Hide and Seek

Since I was a child, we have been playing hide and seek.

You flash a delicate foot behind a flower.

You tinkle your anklets in the melody of a bird’s song!

I have been chasing you!

You shyly hide from beneath your veil in the early morning fog.

You think I cannot see your sumptuous form, all branches and trunk, curvy and graceful.

How coy you are springing into the forest on the fleeting feet of a dear.

All of these decades you think you have been evading me.

So, I play your game and keep up my search, all the while rolling with laughter at your innocence.

Sweet mother, I have been on to you all this time.
